Note:

After consultation with a reputable source on what book I should read for the month of February, it has been decided that I shall read Shakespeare's "Hamlet". It's shorter than a novel, I have less than a week, and it's just something one must read before dying (or so they say). As before, a report will be filed before March 1rst. Carry on...

Small World

I've been meaning to tell this story for a while, but I haven't had the pictures to prove it until tonight. So! Last Friday, we went cross country skiing, and I was set up on a blind date with a friend of a friend. Turns out that my date's family just happened to be in the foreign service, and also just happened to live in Egypt for a few years, and just happened to live there when Ashley and Brandon were there, and just so happened to be in their branch and happened to take them to the pyramids, etc, etc. Do you remember the (sic) Magleby's? Or their daughter Marie?

She congratulates you on getting the job, by the way.

Let Them Eat Cake

So! Friday night we decided to test out our culinary skills in a cake-making contest. The rules of said contest were as follows: 1. All ingredients must cost 10 dollars or less, and are to be bought from Smith's immediately preceding the contest, 2. Cakes will be judged primarily on appearance, creativity, and awesomeness, and only secondarily on taste, 3. ... so there were really only two rules. My date and I decided to glean inspiration from the toy aisle, which yielded, after some time, sparkling candles and loads of frosting, this:

And yes, that is a triceratops gorging itself on a brontasauras alongside a T-rex.

President's Day

Today I got out of bed at 11:00 am. Thus far I've played frisbee, eaten breakfast, cleaned my room and started my laundry. It feels like its 60 degrees outside. It's sunny. Yesterday I ate a real meal at the Pullans. Saturday I was snowboarding all day in powder up to my knees. Friday we became expert night cross country skiers. I'm passing all my classes. I actually like some of them.

Resolved: Life is good.

Would You Prefer A Determinant Proof?

I'd like to post about something other than winter exploits, but sadly statics and linear algebra homework is just as boring to me as it is to you. To the exploit at hand! Yesterday there was almost two feet of fresh snow, twenty buck all day tickets to Sundance, and no algebra homework due. The greater iniquity would have been to deny destiny.

That's Chandra, my partner in crime.

We Wanted An Adventure

So adventure is what we got. To make a long story shorter,
1. We went snowshoeing up Provo Canyon,
2. We had an epic snow war,
3. We built an epic snow man,

4. We slid off the road into a ditch,

5. An hour and $100 later, we returned home,
6. Our thirst for adventure was assuaged.

The End Off An Addiction

Recently I have developed an addiction to a card game called Hearts. Now this would be somewhat less lamentable if I meant the kind of Hearts where you play with friends and socialize and have a great time, etc etc. Unfortunately, I refer to the computer kind, the kind that you can play at any moment, especially when you need to accomplish some urgent task or finish homework or otherwise be useful. So! I have admitted my powerlessness to Hearts (AA step one), and have decided to take permanent, resolute action.

It was the only way.
